There are a couple of rare birds recently released into the wild (sort of) for players ofPokémonGO. Niantic has finally given fans what they've long awaited, and that is two very rare Pokémon: Lugia and Articuno. Legen---wait for it...
The pair are available now only by completing raids with them as boss. Over the weekend, I was lucky enough to catch the very elusive Lugia after beating him with a full group (20 players). I got a shot at Articuno twice, beating him but failing to catch him both times. From what I'm seeing in early numbers, the success rate for captures is not high. Around 2%. Bummer.

PokémonGO has been looking to reel players back in as of late, beginning with smaller, monthly events. They have introduced raids with the upgrading of gyms; raids are chances to fight very strong Pokémon with groups of trainers. However, gathering the right amount of allies in time for a hard boss has become a bit of an issue. With the release of Lugia and Articuno, getting larger groups together more often is the goal.
Although there was a fair amount of success with players in Downtown Detroit, there were reports of the PokémonGO Fest in Chicago not living up to the hype. During the events, connectivity issues plagued attendees. The online stream is said to be pretty bad, too. Niantic is attempting to right their wrongs by sending credits, as well as rare Pokémon, to those who went.
There's no official word on when the other special Pokémon will be released into the world. I know we're all waiting on Mew and MewTwo to show up, but that could be a while down the road. For now, at least, we get to enjoy some very big battles alongside fellow trainers.
And, oh...---DARIES!!!
