Destiny came out three years ago with a little company named Bungie behind it, and ended up being one of the most popular games to play up until the beginning of this year (longer for some). About three weeks ago its sequel was released, and it's already starting to look like fans will get the same amount of play - if not more - out of it.
Destiny 2 is quickly becoming a better gaming experience than its predecessor, improving on what was griped about while playing the original. There's a more comprehensive, less confusing main story that effectively leads into each other mode the game offers. While the basics (characters, weapons, classes, etc.) haven't been changed much, the alterations made to bolster enjoyment have not gone unnoticed.
There was a time when having a clan with your friends yielded no true perks. That has been adjusted to be beneficial, as opposed to just a thing to do. Also, the time of not being able to complete raids/strikes without your friends being online (or wanting to tediously search LFG rooms) has passed. Destiny 2 has introduced what is known as "guided games" in order to quicker get guardians into the action. And, it actually works!
Aside from those very awesome changes, Destiny 2 has introduced new planets, villains, AND activities which make it a more complete game from the jump. The first Destiny relied on DLC to bail it out when things got slow. This is another area where Bungie adjusts for the better. The game seems to have a long line of content to be released prior to the first DLC, which currently has no name or release date, that I know of.
Overall, Destiny 2 has proven in its first weeks that it is, at the very least, just as good as the first. I am definitely leaning toward it being the better of the two, mainly because it just has to be. That's kinda the point, right? We're in week three of the game's life and there are still modes rolling out that are a part of the base game. Factions were rolled out this week, bringing back a familiar (though, enhanced) side activity from the first. There is still more on the way, and I can only assume that it gets better from here.
If you are already saving the galaxy as a guardian, feel free to join up with The Lions of Motor City. There's a screenshot below of our bad-ass clan banner. If you aren't already playing Destiny 2, it's out now for PS4 and XBOX One!!
